Author: that can prevent her from conceiving children for the next five year???? I don’t understand what it is. All I know is that it is a new device that they put inside a woman’s body to prevent her from conceiving a child for up to 5 years. I really want to know. Please.

There is also a newly available implant – it goes into the skin in your arm, and then releases hormones slowly. It is effective for five years.

It’s not really new, but it’s the Mirena iud. Here’s some more information on it:

You have to get it from your doctor. They usually don’t use iuds on women who have not had a child already.
It is not new. It is called an IUD or intrauterine device. The "new" one they are showing on TV is the Murina (sp?) it releases localized hormones into your uterus and prevents pregnancy. You can get an IUD that does not release hormones and is as effective. I have one and I love it! No remembering to take a pill, no hormonal crazies, just NOT Pregnant!
it’s not a machine nor new. It’s a IUD. It’s a device that is placed inside the uterus. From what I understand it prevents the embryo from implanting..I could be wrong though. Dr’s usually only put them in women that have had children before.
There is also the new Essure Systems device http://www.essure.com, but, thats permanent not just 5 years.
