What is a good vitamin regimen for a healthy woman in her late 20's?
With all the different reports of which vitamins and supplements that are good for promoting health and longevity, it gets a little confusing. I want to know what are the more important Vitamins and supplements that should be taken by a healthy woman, in her late 20′s. Muti-vitamins are no good, they have low absorption rates and tend to be pretty useless as per my doctors opinion.
I am already taking B-complex, and vitamin E, but I would like to add D, C and anything else that is important for women’s health.
So if someone can steer me in the right direction of which to take and when is best to take them, it would be appreciated.
I wanted to add to this in case it was unclear. I work out regularly and eat very healthily already and have for some time so the only reason I asked the question is because I want to start taking precautions for the future, such as bone health etc. I have the bases pretty well covered but unfortunately, foods don’t always carry the same benefits as the vitamins. Thanks for all the great advice but I was looking for more of a exact vitamin/regimen for someone already knowledgeable in nutrition and fitness. Thank you all though, Yahoo answers is such a great life tool!
i know your doctor said multi vites suck but those are the ones to take. if you take many different vitamins you may be getting too much of a vitamin because they may contain more than one vitamin in each pill. and honestly the best vitamins to take are prenatal vitamins.. and thats for men too!!!! i would look up the daily values for vitamins and try to find something that is close to that. also one of the best ways to ensure you get all your vitamins is to eat a well balanced diet with veggies of all different colors and different colored fruits, they contain different types of vitamins. a multivitamin will be enough. to ensure adequate absorption try taking it in the morning on an empty stomach before breakfast
Cleansing is the best way to lose weight in my book, and you are not putting a bunch of harmful chemicals in you. It actually gets rid of all that……..I would for sure look at that site…

CALCIUM
Buy a book on juicing. You can absorb all of the vitamins and minerals from fresh juice and it is 100% natural! There are so many benefits besides the v & m part of it . . . you will get hooked on the energy it gives you too!
Im 21 and I take prenatial vitamins, im not trying to get pregnant im trying to stay healthy and the specific combination of vitimans helps you by boosting your immune system and it has cleared my skin up as well!!! I read it in cosmopolitian and decided to try it and have felt great since.
Calcium and magnesium are important. If you find a high quality multivitamin, that can be useful as well. I recommend taking some form of oil, either fish or flaxseed, or both. If you find a really high quality fish oil you won’t burp fish all day. Trust me on this I’ve been using the Carlson Labs DHA for two years and have never burped fish. Anyway, a probiotic is good, because it helps regulate digestion in some people and helps boost your immune system. Nature’s sunshine has a great line of products.
just eat the right foods everyday. drink plenty of water.exercise with weights.
Visit your local herb or whole food store. They have representatives who can help and guide you in the right direction. One vitamin can cover three of what you need. It is best to talk to an expert. Good luck. Now is the time to start thinking about calcium also. Your vitamin need to consist, calcium, vitamins C, all that consist of your brain, muscles, heart, fatigue, etc. They can help you.
I take a womens one a day vitamin. I don’t know about your doctor, but on the days I don’t take it, I am less energetic and mentally lazy. I don’t know if it’s mind over matter but they sure do help me feel better and more healthy. If you don’t want a multi vitamin, you should add a calcium tablet.
Just eat right and exercise. Spend the money you’d spend on supplements and vitamins and buy lots of fruit and vegetables. Supplements are designed for those who aren’t eating properly.
