Can weight loss or stress be the cause of my late period?

I’m 25 years old and in the past 3 or 4 months I have lost 15-20lbs. I have also been under A LOT of stress. I always have protected sex but my period is now four days late. My period have always been regular (except for last month when it came three days early).

Could stress or my recent weight loss be the cause of my late period?

Pregnant, high blood sugar? Help?

I’m in the early stages of my pregnancy, 4-5 weeks, and am a type 1 diabetic. I’ve had 3 high blood glucose readings in the past 7 days- 315, 296, and 415. I work diligently to keep my blood sugar under control, and I have to admit it’s been very difficult the past two weeks with college midterms and work, etc, plus the added "stress" of a new baby on the way.
Anyway, I know that the first 6 weeks are most crucial to the baby’s development, and that high blood sugar can cause fetal brain damage, miscarriage, among many other issues. However, I am taking my prenatal vitamins religiously, drinking lots of water, still doing my daily 30-min. cardio, and exercising whenever possible, am a vegetarian, eating only organic when it is absolutely safe, and, as I said, I am trying hard to keep my sugars normal at this time, via checking my bg and administering insulin via pump and syringe when needed.

My question is, as I am waiting for my first prenatal appointment which is in April, do you think my baby will be ok from my recent high blood sugars?

I’m trying not to stress. My family says both the baby and I will be fine. I’m watching for the first of any problem and am willing to drop everything to go to the ER if the need arises…

I posted this in the Pregnancy section as well. Thanks everyone in advance for your answers.

Hairloss? What could be causing it…?

Well I’ve always had really REALLY thick hair, all my life, and every time I got a haircut the person would always point that out to me. Now I’m 20 and lately my hair has been falling out, not balding or falling out in patches, but just thinning. Like when I run my fingers through my hair its not as thick anymore.

I recently died my hair a really dark black color, and I though that might be the reason, but I only did it once and the color is almost grown out completely and still nothing has changed. I’m also clinically depressed and up until a week ago was taking Wellbutrin for two months.

I noticed the hair falling out once I dyed my hair, I guess because it was black it was easier to spot in the shower, but it does fall out at the roots, I know because I can see the root still attached to the hairs that I find.

So is this normal, has anyone my age experienced this and is it genetic or is it the result of stress, depression, anti-depressants or the hair color.
Also I’ve changed my diet significantly, I avoid milk very much and have switched to soy milk. Everything else I eat in moderation, I also avoid red meat, but pretty much all my diet changes are supposed to be healthier.

What do you think of this for helping me diet?

Ok so, I’ve read that if you do someting for 21 days straight, it becomes habit. With all this stress from schooling starting, losing weight, and other personal stuff, the thought of dieting just makes me want to throw rocks at a wall. BUT, I must lose 30 lbs! So, I’ve been thinking, since for the past 7 months Ive unsuccesfully dieted and lost no weight, I figure I’ll stop stressing about the food for right now and just get myself into a workout routine that I’ll get used to and then it’s not like piling all the stress on at once, but gradually putting on more, you know? So I figure if I can get myself to do my workout routine and eat whatever I want, then after 21 days I’ll add on the diet, I’ll be more apped to want to do this for myself and I’ll stick with the diet for much longer. Do you agree or think this is all rubbish?
