Does anyone know about free women's health clinics in Orlando, Florida?
Where they are located and what services they provide? My best friend is without health insurance and was being treated with birth control pills for PCOS, she needs to find a free womens clinic in or near Orlando Florida so she can continue her treatment, she also was taking something for insuline resistance? If you could place a link to the website or at least a name I could google that would be great. I already tried google but came up with nothing. Thanks!
How can I reduce my fat intake while on a low carb diet?
My doctor recently put me on a low carb diabetic diet. I am not a diabetic – yet. I have a very high insulin resistance in which he wants to treat with diet and exercise and diabetic meds. I have been charting everything I eat, the calories, the fat grams, the carbs, fiber and protein. However, since my carbs have decreased, it seems that my fat intake has increased – at least it seems that way in the pie chart. Is it possible to reduce the fat AND carbs? The doc wants me under 35 carbs a day which is extremely hard to do as it is. It seems like the lower fat foods have a higher carb content and the higher fat foods have a lower carb content. I am concerned about my blood lipids, blood pressure and overall heart health. I would greatly appreciate any tips or advice you may have to offer.
Thanks!
Oh, the reason I am so insulin resistant is due to the PCOS that I was diagnosed with a year ago. It’s sypmtoms have started to take over my body very quickly and has deemed me infertile, unless I can drop and control my insulin levels ASAP.
Pregnancy with PCOS / Metformin?
All
After some general advice/feedback, my wife and I have been trying for a baby for a few years, she was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago and put on Metformin, it was just getting to the stage when I was going to be sent for tests to make sure I was Ok before being put on Clomid (the wife) and she fell pregnant.
It was the best news we have ever had and the most important thing in the world for us, its all we want! We went to the doctor on Monday and was told based on last period she is 8 weeks and due on 24th August 2010 and he would write to the hospiutal and we will receive appointments in the post.
Due to my wife condition we have been looking on the internet and all we read are horror stories, she has been told by GP to come off the Metformin which she has done but cant stop worrying about things going wrong, we want it all to be right for so many reasons but the stories and her condition make it so hard to feel positive all the time!
Can anyone help or relay any concerns, we are counting down the days, I try and keep the stress from my wife and although I know pregnancy is not an illness I keep telling her not to do things so I can, she is taking fruit, is otherwise healthy (other then pcos)
My wife use to have a period once every 3-4 months so again dont know how accurate the date is, we hope its right so we only have 4 weeks to go until 12 week mark!
We want to tell everyone about it but are too scared of jinxing anything!
If anyone can help or give advice it would be appreciated
Many thanks
What can a woman with PCOS do to increase her chances of pregnancy?
First I would like to state that I am NOT wanting to get pregnant at this time. I was just recently diagnosed with PCOS and to be honest the thought of not being able to have children scares me! What are the possibilities of a woman with PCOS becoming pregnant WITH OUT fertility drugs and are there any ways to increase the chances of pregnancy?
