I went to visits my boyfriend’s grandmother in the nursing home today. She has only been there for a short time because she recently broke her femur. While I was there I noticed that she seemed abnormally anxious and was pill-rolling (not too badly, but was noticeable to me). Her eyes would jump back and forth as if to be looking to her sides and behind her. She occasionally shook her head (as if she was having a chill). She was stumbling through our conversation and admitted to getting confused lately. And she was complaining of constipation.

First thing that popped into my mind was either she is on some sort of anti-psychotic that I wasn’t aware of (typical side effects of haldol and several others) or she is in an early stage of some degenerative disease process.

She does have a shuffling gait. Not as severe as you would imagine a Parkinsonian gait to be, but it’s still shuffling. Her memory has been going also (a little too quickly to seem of natural aging, if that makes sense). And the way she broke her femur just seems odd to me. She just fell over. She didn’t trip or anything. Just fell over. As long as I’ve known her (a little longer than 2 years), she’s been slow to talk and very quiet, but I just assumed it was her personality.

I double checked with the nursing staff at the nursing home and she’s not taking any meds that could have side effects that would mimic Parkinson’s disease. And that sure would explain alot.

P.S. She’s not taking any narcotics or mind-altering meds.
I am curious to see if it could be anything else. I am so desperately trying to be proven wrong. I would hate to have to tell her son that she has Parkinson’s and I know it would break her heart also. But I can’t seem to find anything else! Is there any other explanation?

Would you wear this out in public? Just seemed odd to me.
I see your point…it could look pretty hot on a lot of girls. But yeah after a certain age not so much.
